Questions, answered
It tries the usual starting stacks, largest first, and picks the first one it can give every player from what's in your case: about 8 of the smallest chip for posting blinds and making change, at least 4 of each middle chip, the rest in bigger chips, and no more than 40 chips each. Chips worth more than a fifth of the stack stay in the case for coloring up later.
Usually 20 to 30. Fewer and players can't make change; more and stacks get slow to count and push. A 300-piece set comfortably covers 8 to 10 players; for more, a 500-piece set.
There's no standard, which is why the calculator lets you set them. A common tournament set-up is white 25, red 100, green 500, black 1,000 and blue 5,000. For cash-style sets, white 1, red 5, green 25 and black 100.
The calculator says so rather than handing out a stack you can't give everyone. Play with fewer, borrow chips, or use a smaller stack — the blind structure generator will pace the game for whatever stack you settle on.
