Questions, answered
About the top 20 to 33% of a home game's field (6 to 20 players), and a smaller share of a bigger one. By field size: 2 to 4 players, winner takes all; 5 to 8, pay 2; 9 to 14, pay 3; 15 to 20, pay 4; 21 to 30, pay 5; 31 to 45, pay 6; 46 to 60, pay 8; 61 or more, pay 10. The “Recommended” structure here follows that.
For 9 to 14 players, 50% / 30% / 20% to the top three is the most common. Smaller games often pay 65/35 or 70/30 to two places, and bigger fields 45/27/18/10 to four. Choose “My own percentages” to use your league's split.
Usually all of it. Enter how many rebuys and add-ons were sold and their prices, and the calculator adds them to the buy-ins. Bounties are the exception: they're paid out at the table, so keep them out of the pool and use the bounty calculator for them.
Many games set a few dollars aside per player for food or a season-end championship pot. Enter it under “Taken out of each buy-in”. Check your local law before the host keeps any of it: in many places a home game is only legal if nobody takes a cut.
So nobody needs change at the end of the night. Each place gets the multiple of $1, $5, $10 or $20 nearest its share, and the payouts still add up to the whole pool. If the pool itself isn't a round number, the odd few dollars go to whoever the rounding shortchanged most, not automatically to 1st. Final Table rounds a league's payouts the same way, every game.
An even chop splits the money still to be paid equally. A chip chop first gives every player the prize for the lowest place left, then shares the rest by chip count: with $300 left to split, a player with 60% of the chips takes 60% of that $300. ICM is fairer to short stacks, but needs a calculator.
